What is an Online Memorial?

An online memorial web site is a web site dedicated to the life and memory of our loved ones who have passed away.

The web site contains a number of different elements which go together to make a lasting online memorial to their lives.

Memorial web sites are created by you or anyone who wants to create a memorial to a loved one. Sadly Missed.Com provides you with the tools you need to quickly and easily make a rich and full tribute to the life of your dear departed.

• The First page of your memorial site will contain:

• A main photo. (Which you will upload from your computer).

• An opening line. This is a summary of your thoughts about your loved one.

• Your tribute. In this section you can write your own detailed tribute, this section can include poems, your recollections, your thoughts and feelings or anything else you want to write.

• Theme. You can choose from more than 20 themed backgrounds for your memorial web site. A theme includes a main heading and colour scheme.

• The Second page of your memorial site will contain:

• Tributes and Condolences. Friend and family can send tributes or condolences which can be included in your memorial site. Anyone who wants to send a tribute or condolence can visit the site and then write their own message. You, as the memorial site owner will be notified by an email from us to let you know that a tribute or condolence has arrived, you can then view that message and approve it. Only when a tribute is approved will it appear on the tributes page of your memorial web site.

• The Third page of your memorial site will contain:

• Their life. On this page you can enter the main events of their life or anything else you want to write. You could include poems, quotes from books, memories or stories etc.

• The Fourth page of your memorial site will contain:

• Photo Album. You can upload up to 20 photos of your loved one and these photos will form their online photo album.

Each page will have the same themed background.

Who can edit or add to the web site?

Only you (as the web site owner) can edit the content of the site. When you start your memorial web site you will be asked to enter a password, you will then use that password whenever you want to edit or add to the site. You will only be able to edit your site by first entering your password.

When you enter your password you will be taken to the administration page. From that page you can add to or edit any aspect of your memorial web site, and in the admin area you will also be able to read and approve tributes that are sent by others before they appear on your memorial site.

Do I need to know anything about building web sites?

No, we have made the whole process very easy to do. You do not need to know anything about creating web sites.

You will be provided with easy to follow instructions each step of the way. But if you do make a mistake you can easily edit and change your memorial web site later.

Do I need a web host?

No, your memorial web site is automatically hosted at Sadly Missed.Com.

How much does it cost to create a memorial web site?

You can start your Online memorial now and when you are happy with it we will ask you to pay a small fee of $9.75 which will allow us to host your memorial on Sadly Missed.Com for a 12 month period. After that time we will send you an email and if you would like to maintain your memorial for a nother year it will cost the same.

How do other people view my memorial site?

Anyone can come to Sadly Missed.com to view your memorial web site. There are search boxes on every page of Sadly Missed.com, and to visit your site visitors simply type in the name of the person your site is dedicated to and your memorial site will be displayed to them. They can then view your site and send their tributes...
